The Royal Navy has launched an investigation after two UK warships collided at a port in Bahrain. Video footage circulating on social media showed the HMS Chiddingfold reversing into the HMS Bangor near the Middle Eastern port. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, and the Ministry of Defence has refrained from providing details about the collision as the investigation is ongoing. Both vessels are minesweepers tasked with ensuring the safe passage of trade through the Gulf waters. The Ministry of Defence spokesperson mentioned that commenting further would be inappropriate at this time. Unverified footage displayed a significant hole in the fibreglass hull of the HMS Bangor after the incident. Notably, the HMS Chiddingfold has been involved in a similar collision before when it struck the HMS Penzance, another ship of the same class as the HMS Bangor, also off the coast of Bahrain in 2021. Lastly, it's worth mentioning that the HMS Bangor is slated to be decommissioned in the coming year.
