A 23-year-old fan who collapsed at a Taylor Swift concert in Rio de Janeiro in November passed away due to heat exhaustion, according to post-mortem examinations reported by Brazilian media. Ana Clara Benevides Machado attended the first show of Swift's Eras Tour in the city on 17 November. The extreme heat wave drove temperatures up to 39C (102F), with a "felt" temperature of 59.3C, as stated by city authorities. Swift expressed her grief over the fan's death at the time. Videos seemed to show the singer herself struggling with the high temperatures. The artist cancelled the show scheduled for the following day but continued with the rest of the tour. Ana Clara, a psychology student, had traveled from Rondonópolis to attend the concert. Her friend, Daniele Menin, shared that Ana Clara fainted during Swift's second song and was treated by paramedics before being taken to the hospital, where she later died. The post-mortem report revealed that she experienced a cardiovascular shock and bleeding of the lungs, resulting in sudden death. Ana Clara's father confirmed to local media that he had always believed his daughter's death was caused by the extreme heat. Around 60,000 people attended the concert at the Nilton Santos stadium in Rio. A fan named Nathalia Barbieri witnessed Ana Clara being treated by medics after she herself had fainted due to the intense heat and humidity. Nathalia expressed gratitude for surviving the ordeal. Various fans, including Nathalia, criticized the show's organizers, T4F, stating that they were prohibited from bringing their own water bottles into the stadium. T4F responded by assuring that "thousands of cups of water were distributed" inside the venue and that fans were allowed to bring disposable cups of water without restrictions.
