Helen Williams, a Nigerian woman, has recently made headlines by setting a new Guinness World Record for creating the longest hand-made wig. The wig she constructed measures an astonishing 351.28 meters (1,152 feet 5 inches). This remarkable feat required Williams to dedicate 11 days of her time and spend two million naira (equivalent to £2,000 or $2,500) on the project. The creation of this impressive wig involved the use of 1,000 bundles of hair, 12 cans of hair spray, 35 tubes of hair glue, and 6,250 hair clips. Williams expressed her astonishment and joy about achieving this record, stating, "This achievement is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I still cannot believe it." Despite being an experienced wigmaker for eight years, she admitted that the task was far from easy, as it left her feeling exhausted. However, the support and encouragement she received from her friends and family motivated her to stay focused and complete the wig, ultimately resulting in her achieving the title of the world's longest hand-made wig. Measuring and documenting the length of the wig was a challenging task as well. Williams decided to lay out the wig on a busy highway connecting the cities of Lagos and Abeokuta on the seventh of July. This location provided the necessary space to lay out the wig accurately for measurement purposes. Guinness World Records has since confirmed Williams' record, acknowledging her impressive accomplishment. To allow people to appreciate her record-setting efforts, Williams has displayed the wig in her office, allowing visitors to come and marvel at her creation. It is worth mentioning that earlier this year, another Nigerian, Hilda Baci, made waves by breaking the world record for non-stop cooking. However, her title was later surpassed by Irishman Alan Fisher.
