Alaska Airlines Flight 1282 experienced a potentially dangerous incident when an unused emergency exit door blew out shortly after take-off from Portland International Airport. The abrupt loss of cabin pressure resulted in a rapid rush of air and a decrease in temperature. However, passengers wearing seatbelts and the relatively low altitude of the plane at the time mitigated the impact. Had the incident occurred at a higher altitude, the consequences could have been much more severe. The incident has raised concerns about the safety of the Boeing 737 Max aircraft, which has already faced scrutiny following two fatal accidents in 2018 and 2019. Some safety campaigners and whistleblowers have accused Boeing of prioritizing profit over passenger safety. While Boeing maintains its commitment to safety, the incident has further damaged the reputation of the 737 Max.
