The son of Al Jazeera's Gaza bureau chief was killed in an Israeli strike in southern Gaza. Hamza al-Dahdouh, a journalist and cameraman for Al Jazeera, was with a group of journalists when a drone strike hit the road they were traveling on. Another freelance journalist, Mustafa Thuraya, was also killed. This tragedy comes just weeks after four other members of the bureau chief's family were killed in an Israeli strike. Hamza's father, Wael al-Dahdouh, who was also injured in a separate strike last month, expressed his grief at the funeral, stating that Hamza was not only his son but his entire being. The footage from Al Jazeera showed the aftermath of the strike on the car and captured the emotional scene of Wael al-Dahdouh mourning his son. Hamza was intending to report on the situation and aftermath of the bombings in the Moraj area, which had been designated as a "humanitarian zone" by the Israeli army. He had a significant following on Instagram, with his final post dedicated to his father. The death toll in Gaza continues to rise, with over 75 journalists and 22,000 people killed since the start of the war. The BBC has sought comment from the IDF regarding the incident.
