Bafta has confirmed that it is treating a security breach during the best film speech at Sunday night's ceremony very seriously. A man, believed to be a YouTuber, was seen standing in the background as Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas accepted their award for Oppenheimer. The intruder did not make any noticeable gestures or attempt to speak. A Bafta spokesperson stated that the individual was a social media prankster who was removed by security after joining the winners on stage for the final award. The organization does not want to provide any further publicity by commenting on the incident. The identity of the YouTuber has not been revealed, and there have been no posts about the prank on YouTube or TikTok as of now. However, it has been reported that this YouTuber has previously infiltrated other major awards ceremonies, including the Brits, the Mobos, and the Ballon d'Or football awards in France. During the Baftas, the Oppenheimer team was seated together to the right of the stage. The prankster, dressed in a black suit and hat, emerged from the opposite side of the audience, ran up the stairs, and joined them on stage. Thomas initiated the gatecrasher's participation by inviting other cast members to join her. This cunning move made few people suspect that the man was an interloper. He stood alongside actor Cillian Murphy, who had won the best actor award earlier. After Thomas finished her speech, the man tucked something under his arm, applauded, and walked off stage with Thomas, Nolan, Roven, and Murphy. Michael J Fox, who presented the award, and the ceremony host, David Tennant, were also on stage at the time, but none of them interacted with or reacted to the intruder. Oppenheimer was the biggest winner of the evening, securing seven prizes, including best director for Nolan and best actor for Murphy. Poor Things won five awards, and The Zone of Interest received three.
