Real Madrid player, Vinicius Jr, has commended Sevilla for promptly removing and reporting a fan to authorities for allegedly racially abusing him. Vinicius shared an image on social media which appeared to depict a man making a racist gesture towards him. He further revealed that he received a second video that showed another young fan being abusive. After the La Liga match, Sevilla confirmed that they identified the individual, expelled him from the stadium, and handed him over to legal authorities. The club also announced that strict disciplinary measures would be taken against the perpetrator, resulting in his imminent expulsion as a member. Sevilla condemned any form of racist and xenophobic behavior, asserting their dedication to collaborate with authorities in eradicating such attitudes. Real Madrid, currently leading La Liga, drew 1-1 against Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium on Saturday. Vinicius expressed his gratitude towards Sevilla for taking swift action in response to yet another distressing incident of racism in Spanish football. Regrettably, Vinicius shared that he witnessed another racist act during the match, this time committed by a child, emphasizing the need for education to prevent such incidents. He also urged for criminal punishment for those caught engaging in racist behavior. Vinicius has been a repeated target of racist insults from opposing fans and recently provided testimony in the trial of three Valencia fans accused of racially abusing him during a game in May. These instances of racist abuse highlight the challenges Vinicius has faced in the last year.
