A bus accident in Venice, Italy has claimed the lives of at least 21 people and left 15 others injured, some of them critically. The bus, which was carrying tourists back to a campsite, crashed through barriers and caught fire after plunging several meters towards a railway track. Among the victims are nationals from multiple countries, including Ukraine, Germany, Romania, and Portugal. Boubacar Touré, a resident in the area, managed to rescue a woman and her badly burnt son from the wreckage. He recounted how passers-by tried to help extinguish the flames, but the fire was too intense and they had to wait for firefighters. Authorities believe the accident was caused by the driver experiencing a sudden medical problem. The tragedy has brought attention to the state of road barriers in the area, which were deteriorating. Venice has declared three days of mourning for the victims. Despite their efforts, Boubacar and his flatmate Odion Eboigbe, who helped rescue others, downplay their heroism, stating that they couldn't ignore those in need.
