The US has accused Russia of using ballistic missiles and launchers provided by North Korea in its conflict with Ukraine. The National Security Council considers this collaboration to be a significant and concerning escalation and plans to address the issue at the UN Security Council. The US also intends to impose additional sanctions on those involved in facilitating arms transfers. Russia has denied any involvement with North Korea, although North Korean leader Kim Jong Un visited Russia in September to discuss potential military cooperation. This marks the first time US intelligence has revealed specific details about Russia's use of ballistic missiles from North Korea. The US claims that this procurement violates multiple UN Security Council resolutions, and they demand that Russia be held accountable. Additionally, there is a belief that Russia intends to purchase close-range missiles from Iran, although they have not done so yet. The UK strongly condemns Russia's use of North Korean ballistic missiles in Ukraine and pledges to work with partners in imposing consequences on North Korea for supporting Russia's actions. The US is urging Congress to approve additional funding for Ukraine promptly so that they can receive vital air defense capabilities and military equipment. However, talks on further funding have stalled due to a lack of support among Republicans, who want stricter security measures on the US-Mexico border to be part of any aid deal. Ukraine warns that their war efforts and public finances are at risk if Western aid is not delivered soon.
