A teenage girl in Florida died after being struck by lightning while hunting with her father. The incident occurred when lightning hit a nearby tree, and both the girl and her father were affected. The father lost consciousness but later regained it, only to find his daughter in critical condition and not breathing. The 16-year-old girl was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately passed away two days later. Her high school cancelled all athletic events as a sign of mourning, and her classmates gathered at a local church for collective prayer. The Putnam County Sheriff's Office issued a warning about an increase in lightning strikes in the area, emphasizing that storms can come suddenly and lightning can strike even far away from rainfall. In the US, an average of 28 people die each year from lightning strikes, with Florida among the states with the highest number of deaths. Shockingly, young people aged 15 to 24 make up one out of four lightning strike victims.
