Comedian Taylor Tomlinson is set to become the only female late-night host in the US with her new show on CBS. The show, called After Midnight, will air next year after The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Tomlinson gained recognition from her Netflix stand-up specials and will be the youngest late-night host by over 20 years. She joins the ranks of Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers, and Jimmy Kimmel, and fills the spot left by James Corden on The Late Late Show. Tomlinson has gained popularity on social media, particularly TikTok, and has been named one of the top 10 comics to watch by Variety. The format of After Midnight will be similar to Comedy Central's @midnight With Chris Hardwick, and the original producers, Funny Or Die, will return to create the series. Colbert, who serves as an executive producer, announced the show on his own show and shared the moment he told Tomlinson she got the job over a Zoom call. Tomlinson, who is currently on a US comedy tour, jokingly said, "I've never had a real job," and referenced her long-standing career in stand-up. Female network comedy hosts have been rare in recent years, with Lilly Singh being the only notable role as a replacement for Carson Daly on NBC from 2019 to 2021.
