The Super Bowl this year attracted an average of 123.4 million viewers in the US, making it the most-watched broadcast since the Moon landing in 1969. According to preliminary ratings, it was just behind Apollo 11's historic landing, which was estimated to have been seen by 125 to 150 million people. The Kansas City Chiefs emerged victorious with a 25-22 overtime win against the San Francisco 49ers. The presence of pop star Taylor Swift, who attended to support her boyfriend Travis Kelce, may have contributed to the high viewership. There was speculation about whether Swift would make it back from her tour in Japan in time for the game. While the impact of her presence on the audience is debated, a flash poll conducted by consumer research firm Numerator suggested that 20% of Super Bowl viewers supported the Chiefs because of Swift's relationship with Kelce. The cameras captured Swift's moments throughout the evening, including her arrival at the arena, socializing with actress Blake Lively and rapper Ice Spice, as well as kissing Kelce in celebration after the game. Of the viewers this year, 112 million watched the game on CBS, with the remaining viewers tuning in to other platforms such as Paramount+, Nickelodeon, Univision, CBS Sports, and NFL digital channels. Nielsen, the media analytics company, reported that a record-breaking 202.4 million people watched at least part of the game. This year's figures may have been bolstered by Nielsen's updated method of counting viewers who watch outside of their homes, such as in bars or with friends and family. In comparison, last year's Super Bowl between the Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles garnered 115.1 million viewers. The Chiefs' defense of their championship title and the halftime performance by Usher were also big attractions this year. Usher brought along several guests for his performance, including Alicia Keys, H.E.R., Will.i.am, Lil John, Ludacris, and Jermaine Dupri. Usher continued the festivities by getting married to his long-term partner Jennifer Goicoechea in Las Vegas, where the Super Bowl took place. The couple tied the knot at Vegas Weddings' Terrace Gazebo, which accommodates 30 guests. A representative for the singer confirmed the news and expressed their excitement for the couple's future together.
