Global social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, experienced a series of outages on Thursday, lasting a little over an hour. According to Downdetector.com, over 47,000 users in the United States encountered access issues with X and X Pro. Similarly, some users in the United Kingdom and Asia were unable to view posts on the platform and instead saw a message welcoming them to X. X is currently owned by Elon Musk, who purchased Twitter for $44 billion last year. The hashtag #TwitterDown quickly started trending as reports of the outages spread. Fortunately, the issue was resolved fairly quickly, and users regained access to the platform after a little over an hour. Since Musk's acquisition of the platform, it has been experiencing a decline in advertising revenue and facing criticism for allowing antisemitic posts to be displayed alongside advertisements. In response to these allegations, X has filed a lawsuit against Media Matters for America, a left-leaning pressure group that made the initial accusation.
