Prince was at a crossroads in 1991. His commercial success had declined, and his disdain for hip-hop, which had become the dominant sound of urban America, had further alienated him from the music scene. However, he found a new creative spark with his band, the New Power Generation (NPG). Together, they embraced contemporary sounds, blending rap with dance-funk, and produced some of Prince's best songs since his iconic album, Sign O' The Times. Diamonds and Pearls, released in October 1991, became his biggest-selling album in the UK and featured hits such as Gett Off, Cream, and Money Don't Matter 2 Night. Now, Prince's estate is re-issuing the album with unreleased material from the recording sessions, giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at the making of this influential record.
