Paul Pelosi, the husband of former US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, has given a testimony against David DePape, a man accused of attacking him in their San Francisco home last year. DePape is facing charges of attempted kidnapping of a federal official and has pleaded not guilty. He is believed to have been motivated by conspiracy theories about Mrs. Pelosi, according to his lawyer. During the attack, Mr. Pelosi claimed that DePape was looking for his wife and intended to tie him up and wait for her. Mr. Pelosi suffered injuries, including a fractured skull, and spent six days in the hospital. Court documents state that DePape broke into the Pelosi residence with a hammer and confronted Mr. Pelosi, asking for his wife. When the police arrived, DePape swung the hammer at Mr. Pelosi before being apprehended. The incident was captured on body camera footage presented in court. Mr. Pelosi admitted that he had tried to avoid thinking about the incident and had not discussed it with anyone until the prosecutor's meeting. In addition to federal charges, DePape is also facing state charges, including attempted murder, assault, and residential burglary. If convicted, he could face life in prison.
