Observations from the Academy Awards group snapshot for Oscars 2024

The annual Academy Awards luncheon took place in Los Angeles on Monday, where 179 of this year's nominees gathered for a meal and the famous "class photo." Not every nominee was able to attend, but there were plenty of stars, outfits, and poses to keep everyone entertained. Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, who were both nominees for La La Land in 2017, returned to the Academy Awards this year for different films. Gosling wore a lilac suit as a subtle nod to his best picture-nominated film. Actor Sterling K Brown and songwriter Diane Warren, who are both unlikely to win their categories, stood together in the back row. The dog from Anatomy of a Fall, known as Snoop, also made an appearance at the luncheon and was popular among the actors. The only two British nominees, Emily Blunt and Carey Mulligan, were present in the class photo. Directors Christopher Nolan and Martin Scorsese were placed close together in the front row, alongside strong acting contenders. Billie Eilish turned heads with her casual bandana and unique outfit, as she and her brother Finneas were nominated for best original song. The cinematographer Matthew Libatique stood out in the photo with his crossed arms pose. Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig were also present at the luncheon, despite not being nominated in their respective categories. Some nominees were caught blinking or laughing during the photo. The Academy Awards will take place on March 10th, 2024.
