Namibian President Hage Geingob, who is 82 years old, is currently receiving treatment for cancer, according to a senior official. The president's office announced last week that he had been diagnosed with "cancerous cells" following a medical check-up. While further details about his condition were not provided, it was stated that he would continue to fulfill his presidential duties. Concerns about Geingob's health have been growing, especially as he admitted last year to feeling frail. Despite this, the president remains determined and focused. Geingob is set to step down at the end of his two terms later this year. In response to speculations about his health, the vice-president of the governing Swapo party, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, assured the public that Geingob is in good spirits and receiving adequate medical attention. She urged Namibians to allow him and his family to concentrate on his recovery and healing process without engaging in speculation. It is worth noting that the president underwent an aortic operation last year and disclosed in 2014 that he had successfully battled prostate cancer. Namibia is scheduled to hold its presidential and parliamentary elections later this year, with Nandi-Ndaitwah chosen as Swapo's presidential candidate. If she wins, she will become the country's first female president.
