An explosion at a gas plant in the Embakasi region of south-east Nairobi, Kenya, has left at least 29 people injured, with more feared to be hurt or killed. Video footage shared on social media shows a massive fire burning near residential buildings. The fire broke out just before midnight on Thursday while gas cylinders were being refilled, although the cause of the fire is still unknown. Emergency services are currently at the scene, where the building hosting the company, Kentainers Company Ltd, has been badly damaged. Witnesses reported feeling tremors immediately after the blast. The Kenya Red Cross stated on social media that crews have been tirelessly battling the flames and that 29 people have been taken to the hospital with injuries. There is concern that the blaze has spread to multiple apartment complexes, potentially resulting in more casualties.
