According to US meteorologists, Hurricane Otis is now a Category 4 storm and poses a significant threat as it approaches the Pacific coast of southern Mexico. The storm's winds have reached speeds of around 145mph and are expected to increase further, making Otis a potentially catastrophic Category 5 storm by early Wednesday. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) has issued warnings of destructive waves and heavy flooding in coastal areas, including the popular resort of Acapulco. The NHC predicts a storm surge that could result in life-threatening coastal flooding and advises residents to be prepared for large and destructive waves. The hurricane is also expected to bring significant rainfall to the region. Guerrero's authorities have been preparing emergency shelters, and school classes have been canceled. Earlier this month, parts of Mexico's Pacific coastline experienced severe flooding from Tropical Storm Max, resulting in two deaths. Another death was reported following Hurricane Lidia's landfall in the state of Nayarit.
