Matthew Perry, best known for his role as Chandler Bing in the TV sitcom Friends, passed away at the age of 54. The cause of his death has not yet been determined, as further investigation is required. Reports from the LA Times and TMZ state that Perry was found unresponsive in a hot tub at his residence on Saturday. Although a post-mortem examination was inconclusive, officials are awaiting the results of toxicology tests. The LA Police confirmed that there were no visible signs of trauma. The LA County Medical Examiner's office has deferred the case, indicating that additional information is necessary. The Los Angeles Fire Department also responded to an unidentified water emergency at Perry's address. Throughout his career, Perry struggled with addiction to painkillers and alcohol, seeking treatment on multiple occasions. In a 2016 interview with BBC Radio 2, he revealed that he could not recall three years of filming Friends due to substance abuse. Friends aired from 1994 to 2004, culminating in an episode watched by 52.5 million viewers in the US, making it the most-watched TV episode of the 2000s.
