She also voiced her disappointment that Barbie director Greta Gerwig was not nominated for Best Director, stating that what Gerwig achieved with the film was a once-in-a-lifetime accomplishment. Despite the Oscar snubs, Barbie was a box office success, earning $1.38 billion globally. Ryan Gosling and America Ferrera, who received supporting actor and actress nominations, respectively, also expressed their disappointment that Robbie and Gerwig were not recognized. The film also received nominations for Best Original Song, Best Costume, and Best Production Design, and Robbie emphasized that the recognition the film has received is already beyond what they had ever dreamed of achieving.
