According to authorities, a man has died and his friend has been injured during a bull-running festival in eastern Spain. The incident occurred in the town of Pobla de Farnals in the Valencia region. The 61-year-old man was gored in his side during the event and despite undergoing emergency surgery, he passed away the following day. His 63-year-old friend was attacked in both legs by the same bull and is currently in a stable condition in the hospital. Unfortunately, deaths and injuries during bull-running festivals in Spain are not uncommon. These events, in which bulls are released on city streets and people run ahead of them, take place across Spain regularly. Animal rights groups have raised concerns about the dangers posed to the public and the animals in these events. Nevertheless, the bull-running festivals continue to be popular. Valencia's economy greatly benefits from the bull-running season. A study conducted in 2019 revealed that this annual event creates over 3,000 jobs and generates €300 million in revenue. With nearly 10,000 events taking place each year, the economic impact is significant.
