Police in Las Vegas are on the lookout for two more suspects in connection with the fatal beating of 17-year-old high school student Jonathan Lewis Jr. The incident occurred in an alleyway near his school, where a group of his classmates attacked him. Eight suspects, aged between 13 and 17, have already been arrested and are facing murder charges. The fight erupted over a dispute regarding a set of headphones and a vape that were stolen from either the victim or his friends. A video of the incident revealed that after Jonathan and another student began fighting, the larger group of students joined in, knocking him to the ground and launching a brutal assault on him. The attack, as described by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police's homicide lieutenant Jason Johansson, was captured on the video, which he described as graphic and showing a complete lack of humanity. The incident took place on November 1 behind the students' school, Rancho High School. Jonathan was discovered unconscious by a member of the public, who brought him back to the school. Although school staff performed CPR on him, he was ultimately transported to the hospital, where he died six days later as a result of non-survivable head trauma. An autopsy confirmed that the cause of death was homicide due to blunt force trauma. In addition to the eight students already arrested, two more individuals, who have not been identified yet, will also face murder charges. The police released a video containing images of these two suspects. Jonathan's father, Jonathan Lewis Sr, stated that his son had intervened to help a smaller child who was being bullied but was subsequently attacked by a group of 15 people. In a statement, Mr. Lewis described his son as a hero. Disturbing scenes from the video of the attack have circulated widely online, prompting authorities to ask the public to share any additional footage they may possess. The Clark County School District (CCSD) has pledged its assistance to the investigation and emphasized its commitment to not tolerate violence or threats against students or their safety.
