US police are currently searching for a 17-year-old Chinese exchange student who they fear has been kidnapped. Kai Zhuang was last seen on Wednesday at his residence in Riverdale, Utah. Authorities have reason to believe that he is being held against his will and is in immediate danger. The school he attended in Riverdale was contacted by his concerned parents in China, who informed the school officials that they had received a ransom demand along with a photo of their son, indicating that he had been abducted. After this was reported, officers visited the home of Kai's host family, who were unaware that he was missing. The family stated that they had last seen Kai on the evening of December 27 and may have heard him in the early hours of the following day. Police Chief Casey Warren emphasized that there is no evidence at this time to suggest that he was taken from his home in Riverdale. The local police are collaborating with the FBI and Chinese authorities in their efforts to locate Kai, and various investigative measures are currently underway. Due to the lack of an identified suspect, the US amber alert system for missing persons cannot be activated, and thus, an endangered missing person advisory has been issued for Kai.
