Julia Roberts has revealed that she made the personal choice to never do nude scenes throughout her 35-year film career. In an interview with British Vogue conducted by Richard Curtis, the writer and director of "Notting Hill," Roberts admitted that she almost turned down the starring role in the film due to the discomfort of playing a movie actress. When asked if she chooses roles that align with her views on feminism, Roberts responded that her choices of what not to do are more representative of her beliefs. She referred to her career as "G-rated," and mentioned using a body double for revealing scenes in "Pretty Woman" and requesting changes to an explicit sex scene in "Duplicity." Roberts explained that she considers acting with clothes on as a performance and acting without clothes on as a documentary. She also shared that she disliked a costume chosen for her in "Notting Hill" and opted for her own clothes instead. Furthermore, she commented on the challenges faced by young film stars today compared to when she started in the industry, stating that the current environment seems more exhausting and cluttered, with numerous elements to manage.
