American singer Jason Derulo is facing accusations of sexual harassment in a legal case brought forth by Emaza Gibson, an artist who was signed to his record label. Gibson alleges that Derulo ended their working relationship after she refused his sexual advances. She has described the experience as traumatizing. Derulo has denied the claims, categorizing them as "completely false and hurtful." Gibson has filed a complaint against Derulo in the Los Angeles Superior Court, accusing him of deceptive practices and denying her opportunities for success. She claims quid pro quo sexual harassment, breach of contract, intimidation, violence, and other offenses. In response, Derulo stated his opposition to all forms of harassment and expressed his commitment to supporting aspiring individuals in pursuing their dreams. Gibson, whose contract with Atlantic Records was terminated in September 2022, is seeking compensation for unpaid wages, loss of earnings, emotional distress, and employment benefits. The case includes Derulo, his manager, Frank Harris, Atlantic Records, RCA Records, and Derulo's Future History imprint as defendants. The BBC has reached out to the involved parties for their comments.
