Israel rejects UN ceasefire resolution for Gaza in a furious manner

Israel has rejected a UN resolution that called for a humanitarian truce in Gaza and pledged to continue defending itself. The UN General Assembly overwhelmingly supported the resolution for an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. Israel's UN Ambassador, Gilad Erdan, condemned the UN for lacking legitimacy and relevance. While the US voted against the resolution, it expressed support for humanitarian pauses in Israeli military operations in Gaza. Israel's military has intensified its strikes across the region and announced an expansion of operations. The resolution, though not legally binding, carries moral weight due to the UN's comprehensive membership. Israel's response to the resolution has been strongly critical, accusing those in favor of supporting "terrorists" rather than Israel's defense. France's President, Emmanuel Macron, called for a ceasefire to protect those affected by bombings in Gaza. Jordan warned that a ground war would result in a humanitarian catastrophe. Additionally, Israel has demanded the resignation of UN Secretary-General António Guterres over remarks he made about the Gaza conflict, alleging that he justified terrorism.
