The principal of a school in Iowa, Dan Marburger, has died after risking his life to protect his students during a recent shooting. Marburger, who had been the head of Perry High School since 1995, acted selflessly and tried to distract the gunman before he was shot. His brave actions gave students an opportunity to escape. Unfortunately, six people were injured and an 11-year-old student named Ahmir Joliff lost his life in the shooting. Marburger's daughter revealed that he was shot three times while trying to talk down the suspect. Despite a valiant fight, Marburger passed away on Sunday morning. Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds praised his heroism and ordered state flags to be flown at half-mast until his funeral. The shooting occurred in the school cafeteria during breakfast, and the gunman, identified as Dylan Butler, later died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Investigations revealed that Butler had a shotgun, handgun, and an explosive device in his possession. This tragic incident took place just days before the Republican presidential caucuses in Iowa. President Joe Biden was immediately briefed on the situation, and the White House reached out to the governor's office to offer support.
