The Emmy Awards, originally scheduled for September but delayed by four months due to Hollywood strikes, are finally taking place. The nominations were announced in July, but the strikes meant that very few nominees would have been able to attend the ceremony. The event will be hosted by actor and comedian Anthony Anderson, and rumors suggest there may be a tribute to the late Matthew Perry from his Friends co-stars. Perry passed away in October at the age of 54. Before the main ceremony, many categories were already awarded at the Creative Arts Emmys. The Last of Us was the big winner, receiving eight prizes. The main event will recognize high-profile categories such as best drama and comedy shows and the best actors in them. Due to the enforced delay, some of the programs being recognized may feel outdated to audiences. Succession is expected to be a frontrunner at the Emmys after its success at the Golden Globes. The White Lotus, about entitled hotel guests and the staff who serve them, is also a strong contender. Other nominated programs include Beef, Wednesday, and House of the Dragon. The ceremony will be broadcast live on the Fox network in the US and will be available to stream the following day on Hulu. In the UK, it will be broadcast on Sky Max and Sky Showcase. Anthony Anderson, known for his role in Black-ish, will host the ceremony and has promised light-hearted humor and self-deprecation in his hosting duties. In celebration of the Emmy Awards' 75th year, viewers can also expect montages and retrospectives of the event's history.
