According to Mirza Shahzad Akbar, an adviser to ex-Pakistan prime minster Imran Khan who is currently in jail, he was targeted in an acid attack outside his home in the UK. Although the chemical used in the attack missed his eyes, Akbar sustained injuries on his body. The police are currently investigating the incident, but no arrests have been made so far. Akbar claims that the attack is a result of the threats he has been receiving ever since he fled Pakistan with his family. He also mentioned that his brother had disappeared in Pakistan and then reappeared months later. While Akbar did not disclose the identity of the responsible party, he emphasized that he will not be intimidated by such actions. The Hertfordshire police confirmed the assault, stating that an acidic solution was believed to have been used. The victim has already received medical treatment and been discharged. The police are encouraging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. In the interest of Mr. Akbar and his family's safety, the BBC has chosen not to disclose the exact location of the attack. Imran Khan, the former prime minister and popular cricket player, was removed from office in 2022 and is currently imprisoned in Pakistan on various charges which he claims are politically motivated.
