Dutch police have apprehended a 32-year-old male attacker responsible for killing two individuals in separate shootings in Rotterdam. The assailant first opened fire and set a home ablaze, before moving on to the Erasmus Medical Center. The suspect was a student at Erasmus University, which has connections to the hospital. His motives for the attacks remain unknown. The first shooting resulted in the death of a 39-year-old woman, while her 14-year-old daughter was left seriously injured. In the second incident, a 46-year-old male lecturer was shot and killed at the hospital. Footage shows the gunman being taken into custody from the medical center. Rotterdam Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb expressed his shock at the incident, while Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte extended his sympathies to the victims and their families. The police confirmed that the perpetrator, who had been convicted of animal cruelty in the past, was known to them. No evidence of an accomplice has been found. During the attack, hospital staff and patients were seen evacuating the premises. Messages pleading for help were visible in some of the windows. Elite police units, including snipers, were deployed, and helicopters circled the hospital. Before his arrest, the suspect was described as tall with dark hair, wearing combat gear, and possibly traveling on a motorcycle with a backpack, headphones, and a handgun.
