French Reproductive Health Organization utilizes British TV series 'Sex Education'

A French family planning agency called Le Planning Familial has launched a campaign inspired by the popular British TV show Sex Education. The agency aims to encourage young people to talk about sex by promoting its free helpline with Netflix. Posters displaying questions asked by 15-25 year olds, inspired by the show, can be found in various French cities. The show, which just released its fourth and final series on Netflix, follows the story of teenage sex therapist Otis and his self-styled clinic at school, with the support of his friend Maeve. Sex Education has been praised for its honest approach, diverse cast, and tackling of difficult subjects. Despite sex education being obligatory in France since 2001, Le Planning Familial claims that young people still have questions and are lacking answers. The organization feels that the collaboration with Netflix comes at a crucial time when access to reliable and inclusive information about sex is at risk. The president of Le Planning Familial, Sarah Durocher, says the show has provided valuable information and inspiration regarding the questions young people bring to their service. The campaign features posters advertising the "La Hotline Sex Education" and highlights five example questions from the series, such as "Is foreplay considered sex?", "How can I determine my sexual orientation?", and "Is contraception only for girls?". The campaign will run until Tuesday, and its tagline emphasizes that although the show may be ending, sex education will continue.
