Just three days after being crowned as the king of Denmark, Frederik X has surprised Danes by publishing a book titled "The King's Word." This unexpected publication has caught the attention of media outlets, which have been quick to share excerpts from the book through live-blogging. In "The King's Word," Frederik shares his thoughts on various topics, such as Denmark's position in the world and his relationship with Queen Mary. Priced at 250 Danish Krone (around £28.80) and spanning roughly 110 pages, the book was written in collaboration with Jens Andersen, who previously authored Frederik's biography in 2017. The content of the book is based on interviews conducted over the past year and a half. In one section of the book, the King reflects on his childhood and expresses difficulty in accepting his future role as the King of Denmark. He reveals his desire to be like any other boy his age. Additionally, the book delves into the King's faith, highlighting that he and his Australian-born wife pray with their children every evening. King Frederik X's ascension to the throne was witnessed by tens of thousands of people, who gathered to watch the historic event at Christiansborg Castle in Copenhagen. Overwhelmed with emotion, the King addressed the enthusiastic crowd and expressed his hope of becoming a unifying king for the future. This significant transition occurred as his mother, Margrethe II, abdicated after an impressive reign of 52 years.
