An 11-year-old boy in central Florida has been taken into custody after shooting two 13-year-olds following an argument during an American football practice. The attacker, after engaging in a physical altercation, obtained a gun from his mother's car and fired a single shot, according to the police. Both victims survived the incident, though one required surgery after being shot in the torso while the other was struck in the arm. The young boy now faces an attempted second-degree murder charge. In addition to the boy's arrest, it is likely that adults will also face charges due to the improper storage of the firearm in an unlocked container, as stated by Apopka police chief Mike McKinley. Speaking at a news conference, McKinley expressed concern over the easy accessibility of guns among children, stating that incidents like this were occurring too frequently and at increasingly younger ages. He emphasized that resolving disputes with firearms is unacceptable. The incident occurred at the Northwest Recreation Complex during a Pop Warner football practice, though it remains unclear what sparked the initial altercation. Following the disagreement, the conflict escalated into the parking lot, where the attacker retrieved the weapon from his mother's car. Officers arrived at the scene approximately four minutes after the shooting, taking the young boy into custody. One victim was treated and released from the hospital on the same night, while the other victim, who underwent surgery, remained in stable condition. Due to legal reasons, the names of the victims and the young attacker have not been disclosed.
