Actress Florence Pugh was injured when someone threw an object at her during a Comic Con event in Brazil. Video footage shows Pugh on stage promoting her upcoming film Dune: Part Two with her co-stars Zendaya, Austin Butler, and Timothée Chalamet. While on stage, an object was thrown in Pugh's direction, hitting her in the right eye. Prior to the incident, Pugh expressed her excitement about being a part of the sequel to the successful sci-fi movie. The film is set to be released in March 2024. Pugh joins a growing list of celebrities who have been targeted by objects thrown by fans during their performances. Earlier this year, Harry Styles was hit in the eye with a sweet at a concert in Austria, Pink had a bag of human ashes thrown on stage during her show in BST Hyde Park, and Adele spoke out about fans throwing objects during her Las Vegas performance. In June, Bebe Rexha collapsed on stage in New York after being hit by a phone, while rapper Cardi B retaliated by throwing her microphone at a concertgoer who threw a drink at her in Las Vegas. According to Dr. Lucy Bennett, a lecturer at Cardiff University, the Covid-19 pandemic may have contributed to changing attitudes towards celebrities, as fans seek to gain attention by physically interacting with them during live events rather than relying solely on social media.
