Elvis Presley will be resurrected virtually in a new immersive concert experience called Elvis Evolution. The show will use AI technology and holographic projections of the singer, generated from his personal photos and home-video footage. Starting in London in November, the concert will then move to Las Vegas, Berlin, and Tokyo. The success of the virtual Abba Voyage concert, which featured avatars of the Swedish pop band, inspired the creation of Elvis Evolution. British entertainment specialists Layered Reality have gained the global rights to produce the show. Layered Reality has previously produced immersive experiences like The Gunpowder Plot and The War of The Worlds. The show promises to offer a breathtaking concert experience, featuring a life-sized digital Elvis performing iconic moments in musical history. Andrew McGuinness, the founder and CEO of Layered Reality, described the show as a next-generation tribute that allows the audience to step into Elvis's world. The experience will combine a life-sized digital Presley with AI, holographic projection, augmented reality, live theatre, and multi-sensory effects. McGuinness stated that the show would offer fans a deeper understanding of Elvis's life, allowing them to relive his rise to fame and the cultural impact he made. The central London venue for the show will also house an Elvis-themed bar and restaurant with live music. Elvis Presley, known for hits like Hound Dog and Suspicious Minds, rose to fame in the 1950s before his death in 1977 at the age of 42. In 2018, he was awarded the US Presidential Medal of Freedom posthumously. A film about Presley's life was released in 2022, and another movie exploring his relationship with his ex-wife, Priscilla Presley, was recently released in the UK. Virtual concerts and events have gained popularity since the launch of Abba Voyage in 2022. The concert, featuring digital versions of the band members, takes place in a purpose-built arena in east London and has been highly successful financially, contributing to the London economy. Kiss, a rock band, also incorporated virtual avatars into their final farewell concert, using the same technology as Abba Voyage. The band members credited the avatars with ensuring their iconic status would live on.
