The Prince of Wales has announced the winners of his annual Earthshot Prize, stating that the climate crisis has become too significant to ignore. Prince William believes that this decade is crucial for collective action in protecting the planet. At a ceremony in Singapore, he revealed the recipients of the £1m ($1.2m) prize, including a company that develops recyclable components for electric vehicle batteries and a project that assists farmers in reducing food waste. The awards ceremony, hosted by actress Hannah Waddingham, featured notable attendees such as Sir David Attenborough and Cate Blanchett, with performances from OneRepublic and Bastille. Unfortunately, the Princess of Wales could not attend as she was supporting her son through exams. Prince William ended his speech on a positive note, expressing his belief that future generations will recognize this decade as the turning point in global collective action for a sustainable world. The Earthshot Prize was introduced by Prince William to fund projects aimed at preserving the planet. It takes inspiration from President John F Kennedy's "Moonshot" ambition. The winners will each receive £1m ($1.2m) to develop their innovations. The awards ceremony prioritized sustainability, using recycled materials and encouraging guests to wear "pre-loved" clothes. The event will be broadcast on the BBC in the UK.
