A gunman who carried out a deadly attack at a university in Prague has confessed to an earlier double murder in his suicide note, Czech police have revealed. The note, found at the home of David Kozak, included a confession that he had shot and killed a man and his infant daughter in the woods near the city before the university attack. Kozak, a 24-year-old master's history student, killed himself after being surrounded by armed police. The attack at Charles University, which took place on December 21st, is the deadliest mass shooting in Czech history. In total, Kozak killed 17 people, including his father. The police had been investigating the murders and had Kozak on their list of potential suspects. Last week's attack at the university involved Kozak opening fire from the rooftop of the Faculty of Arts building, resulting in the deaths of 13 people. Another victim died in the hospital, and 25 others were injured. The motive for the killings is still unknown. Following the massacre, Czech Interior Minister Vit Rakusan called for the cancellation of New Year's fireworks displays, urging citizens to show solidarity and remember those affected by the tragedy. Charles University, established in 1347, is the oldest and largest university in the Czech Republic and one of the oldest in Europe.
