An Israeli air strike on Gaza has resulted in the death of the family of Al Jazeera news reporter, Wael Al-Dahdouh. The incident took place at a refugee camp in central Gaza, where Al-Dahdouh's wife, son, daughter, and grandson were killed. Al Jazeera strongly condemned the Israeli assault on Gaza, labeling it as indiscriminate. The family had settled in the Nuseirat camp after being displaced from northern Gaza due to ongoing military action. While the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed carrying out an attack targeting Hamas in the same area, they expressed sorrow for any loss of life. Footage showed a devastated Al-Dahdouh holding his daughter's body, emphasizing the lack of safe places in Gaza. Al-Dahdouh is the bureau chief for Al Jazeera Arabic in Gaza and has been with the news agency for several years. Al Jazeera expressed deep concern for the safety of their colleagues in Gaza and held the Israeli authorities responsible for their security, calling for international intervention to protect innocent lives. The Committee to Protect Journalists reported that at least 24 journalists have been killed in the ongoing conflict. Gaza has been continuously bombarded by Israel since a surprise attack by Hamas fighters on October 7, resulting in the deaths of over 1,400 people. The Hamas-run health ministry reported nearly 6,500 deaths in Gaza. Israel has also imposed restrictions on supplies, cutting off fuel, electricity, and most water to the territory. Limited aid is now being allowed through Egypt.
