A series of missile strikes targeted Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, resulting in dozens of injuries, according to authorities. The attacks occurred after President Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to the US, where he sought additional military aid for Ukraine but faced opposition from Republicans. The European Union (EU) is set to discuss providing further assistance to Ukraine, with EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen emphasizing the importance of supporting Ukraine's strength. President Zelensky condemned Russia's actions, stating that the country intentionally targeted residential areas, kindergartens, and energy facilities. The strike on Kyiv follows a previous missile attack on the city last week, ending 79 days without such an incident. Ukraine's air force claimed to have shot down all 10 missiles heading towards the capital. The projectiles were identified as Iskander-M ballistic missiles and S-400s, known for their speed and ability to target ground destinations. In addition to the missile strikes, Ukraine's largest mobile network operator experienced a significant cyberattack, posing a threat to air raid alerts for millions of people. The city of Odesa was also attacked by drones, resulting in injuries and damage to civil infrastructure. President Zelensky is currently in Norway to discuss support for Ukraine's defense, following his unsuccessful efforts to secure military aid in the US. Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orban expressed his opposition to Ukraine joining the EU, claiming it contradicts Hungary's national interest. However, EU Commission President von der Leyen stressed that Ukraine's accession to the EU would be a victory for Europe and highlighted the EU's role in supporting Ukraine's fight against the invader.
