Twitter terminated our employment and then disappeared without explanation – African employees

Sacked employees from Twitter's Africa office are threatening to sue the company for not fulfilling their promised redundancy payments. Despite being in the job for only a few months, these workers were informed of their termination in November. The affected individuals claim that Twitter, now known as X, owes them money and closure. Elon Musk, who acquired the social media platform last year, laid off over 6,000 employees due to significant daily losses. The Africa team, compromising fewer than 20 individuals, experienced a year-long battle with X for compensation after being forced out of their emails and not receiving further salary payments. The staff members argue that X's negligence has had negative effects on their mental health and family finances. Agency Seven Seven, the company providing legal representation to the staff, revealed that negotiations with X have repeatedly gone unanswered, even after an agreed-upon deadline. Other ex-employees have also filed lawsuits against the company, claiming they have yet to receive compensation following Musk's acquisition.
