US soldier Travis King has returned to the US after being expelled from North Korea following his two-month detention. He was seen in a video getting off a plane in San Antonio, Texas. The 23-year-old reconnaissance specialist had illegally crossed into North Korea from South Korea in July. Prior to returning home, Pvt King was transferred to US custody in China and then flown to a US military base. He was detained by Pyongyang until being handed back to American authorities. Images captured by US media show him being escorted by officials upon his arrival at the base. North Korean media claimed that Pvt King had fled to their territory due to "inhuman treatment" and racism within the US military. A senior administration official noted that after months of intense diplomacy, Pvt King has now returned to US hands and his family has been contacted. The official stated that Pvt King is delighted to be on his way home and is eager to reunite with his family.
