Taylor Swift's concert tour has proven to be a massive success, breaking records and generating incredible sales. According to Pollstar, the 60 shows in her tour brought in approximately $1.04 billion in gross sales. This achievement set a new record in the music industry, surpassing previous records. The comeback of the concert business following Covid-19 lockdowns has contributed to a lucrative year, with the top 100 global tours collectively generating over $9 billion in gross sales, a 46% increase from the previous year. Beyoncé and Bruce Springsteen also made it to the top three concerts of the year. However, Taylor Swift's tour outshone them not just in terms of revenue, but also in terms of speed and scale. Swift's popularity allowed her to exclusively perform in stadiums, accommodating larger crowds. This stands in contrast to Elton John, who took 328 shows over five years to achieve a revenue of $939 million during his farewell tour, which took place during the pandemic. Pollstar stated that Swift's tremendous success should come as no surprise, considering her unparalleled popularity. 2021 has been a year of record-breaking achievements for the pop star, as she earned the title of Person of the Year from Time Magazine. Additionally, her re-recorded album "1989" was the best-selling album of the year, and the concert film accompanying her tour has generated approximately $250 million in revenue. During the Eras tour, Taylor Swift sold over 4.3 million tickets, averaging around $239 per ticket. This places her tour as the fifth highest in terms of average ticket price among the top tours of the year. In comparison, the average price for the top 100 tours overall was approximately $130. Pollstar's tracking concluded in November, but Taylor Swift's tour is ongoing worldwide. If all scheduled shows are played, her tour has the potential to gross over $2.16 billion, according to Pollstar.
