French thief apprehended after failed attempt to steal phone

According to French media, a suspected thief has been apprehended in a Paris suburb after accidentally leaving his phone behind during a burglary and then calling it in order to retrieve it. The incident unfolded on Friday when the intruder was startled by the inhabitant of a flat in Colombes and quickly fled the scene. Although the burglar managed to snatch a laptop, he dropped his phone while making his escape. Minutes later, he contacted his own number and proposed returning the stolen laptop in exchange for his phone. However, when he returned to make the exchange the next morning, the suspect, who is said to be a minor, was promptly arrested by police officers who were waiting for him.
