In Los Angeles, a suspect has been arrested in connection with the fatal shootings of three homeless men last month. Jerrid Joseph Powell, aged 33, allegedly targeted men who were sleeping alone on the streets in three different locations. Powell was apprehended last week for a separate incident involving a homeowner's murder in his own garage. He is now facing charges of four murders and was scheduled to appear in court on Monday. Los Angeles police chief Michael Moore expressed his shock at the senseless killings, describing them as chilling. Authorities believe that Powell randomly attacked some of the city's most vulnerable residents over a span of four days. The first murder occurred on November 26, followed by another shooting 24 hours later. The third victim, a homeless Latino man, was killed in the early hours of the next day. The LAPD and Mayor Karen Bass warned the public of a potential serial killer targeting the homeless community. Powell was arrested in Beverly Hills and his car was linked to the shooting of another individual in a suspected robbery. Privacy concerns were raised due to authorities' use of license plate scanning technology to identify the vehicle. However, they defended its use, stating it aided in preventing further harm. The murder weapon used in the killings of the three homeless men was also recovered during Powell's arrest. He is currently being held on $2 million bail. The incident highlights the ongoing violence against the homeless population, with recent cases in Orange County and Las Vegas.
