Sudan's civil war has expanded to new areas of the country, leading to concerns of a new humanitarian crisis. The conflict, which has gone largely unnoticed by the world, has resulted in recent military losses. Millions of people are trapped in the fighting, including Rasha Amin and her family in the capital city of Khartoum. In October, a missile struck a neighbor's house, causing her young son to wet the bed out of fear. The explosion damaged their home and left them traumatized. Despite attempts to flee when the war began, Rasha and her family were unsuccessful. They witnessed the horrors of the war during their failed escape. Rasha's husband and children are British citizens, but she was not eligible for evacuation. Now, they are stuck in Khartoum, surrounded by armed men and facing daily power cuts and a lack of basic services. Efforts to find a political solution to the conflict have been unsuccessful thus far, and both sides have been accused of committing war crimes. The situation is worsening, and there are concerns of a hunger catastrophe as food aid becomes increasingly difficult to distribute. Rasha and her family rely on support from relatives for basic necessities.
