British actor Anthony Daniels, known for his role as C-3PO in Star Wars, has decided to sell his collection of costumes, props, and scripts from the iconic films. The 77-year-old actor will be parting ways with these items through auctioneer Propstore, based in Hertfordshire, starting from Thursday. The most notable item up for sale is the gold helmet he wore for his character in the first Star Wars film in 1977, which is expected to fetch up to £1 million. Daniels expressed his excitement at finding a good home for his collection, stating that although he is not sad to part with the items, he looks forward to them being cherished and displayed by their new owners. Nearly 200 items are being put up for sale at the auction, including part of the C-3PO costume, production scripts, and even pieces of the Millennium Falcon spaceship. Daniels also recounted how he saved fragments of the Millennium Falcon from a bonfire at Elstree Studios after the filming of Return of the Jedi. His hand-annotated dubbing scripts for The Empire Strikes Back are estimated to fetch over £1,000. While Daniels does have some Star Wars memorabilia on display in his home, such as a Lego brick statue of his character and a C-3PO statuette designed to resemble an Oscar, he does not plan to auction those items. The actor mentioned that during the filming of the final Star Wars film, Rise of Skywalker in 2019, he was offered the opportunity to take items from the set but declined, as he already had enough. Propstore will begin auctioning the various film and TV items, including the C-3PO head, on Thursday at BAFTA's Piccadilly base in London. Daniels will be attending the auction and expressed his excitement about the event. The auction will continue until Sunday, with Saturday expected to be the main day for the sale of items from Daniels' collection. Propstore has carefully curated the collection, a fact that Daniels finds amusing, as he believes the memories associated with the items are more significant to him since he was part of the films.
