The Spanish government has charged Colombian singer Shakira with tax evasion for the second time. Prosecutors claim that she defrauded the state of €6.7m ($7.1m, £5.8m) in 2018 by not declaring millions in advance payments for her El Dorado World Tour and other earnings. The details of the second investigation, which began in July 2023, were released on Tuesday. While Shakira is aware of the new charges, her legal team in Miami, where she currently resides, has not been informed. They are currently focused on preparing for the trial for the 2012-2014 fiscal years, set to begin on November 20. The new charges stem from Shakira's residency in Barcelona in 2018, where she lived with football star Gerard Pique. Prosecutors argue that she redirected her income to low-tax and secretive countries. Shakira already faces trial in November for six alleged tax crimes, which she denies. She maintains her confidence in having enough evidence to support her case and believes justice will be on her side.
