Former Chilean President Sebastián Piñera killed in helicopter accident

Sebastián Piñera, the former President of Chile, has tragically died in a helicopter crash in the southern part of the country, as confirmed by his office. While details regarding his funeral are yet to be announced, Chile's interior minister stated that four individuals were involved in the helicopter accident on Tuesday. Fortunately, three people survived, but sadly, Mr. Piñera did not. His body has been recovered by the army. Piñera, a conservative politician and billionaire businessman, had served as Chile's President from 2010 to 2014, and again from 2018 until last year. He was recognized as one of the wealthiest individuals in Chile. Numerous politicians across South America have expressed their condolences and paid tribute to Mr. Piñera. Former Argentine President Mauricio Macri expressed immense sadness and described the loss as irreplaceable. Ivan Duque, the former President of Colombia, also expressed great sorrow for the death of his friend.
