Actor Ryan Gosling expressed his disappointment over the major Oscar nomination snub of Barbie's Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie. Although Gosling himself was honored with a nomination for best supporting actor for his portrayal of Ken, he believes that the success of Barbie is owed to Gerwig and Robbie. Many expected Gerwig to be nominated for best director and Robbie for best actress, but they were recognized in other categories. Robbie was acknowledged as a producer in the best picture line-up, and Gerwig was nominated, alongside her husband Noah Baumbach, for best adapted screenplay. Gosling stressed the importance of Gerwig and Robbie's contributions to the history-making film and expressed his disappointment that they were not recognized in their respective categories. However, he also expressed his happiness for America Ferrera, who received a nomination for best supporting actress. Overall, the Barbie film received eight nominations, including best picture, while Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer led with 13 nominations. The 96th Academy Awards, or the Oscars, will take place on 10 March in Los Angeles.
